Welcome to the Game Day section of the PLPA web site. Game Day is a segment that features players and how they prepare for games including what they do during the day of a game as a chronology. This segment will feature Erik Miller of the Washington Power. Erik Miller's Game Day10:00 a.m. - Get my lazy butt out of bed and get a good stretch to help work out the Friday night Practice we had at the Cap Center, then watch a little SportsCenter. 11:15 a.m. - Get a shower, breakfast and check email and read about the NLL games the night before. 1:30 p.m. - Watch a little tape of whomever we may be playing and concentrate on the Man Up and key shooters of the opponent. Have some Pasta and Salad while I am doing this. 2:00 p.m. - dressed and make sure the giant bag of pads I have is full of what I need and double check for my Under Armour……you never want forget the Under Armour. 3:30 p.m. - Load up the Truck, Hit the Gas Station for Gas, Water, and a Gatorade Bar for pregame. 5:00 p.m. - Arrive early at the Cap Center for pre game quiet time. Hit the floor with stick and ball alone and just shoot until I feel loose. All goalies love to shoot! 5:30 p.m. - Team all arrives and meets before game. Warm up is posted on the wall. The Pre game CD is blasting tunes and quoting the Hansons and Coach Dunlop. 6:00 p.m. - Get my Under Armour on and head for the Non Padded Measurements. It's never the same 2 weeks in a row. 6:45 p.m. - Pre Game warm up. Lots of Shots, talk, while trying to find your comfort zone and I always stay late with Matt Shearer and Paul Gait. Then go get the measured with the pads…..this is always different each time too! 7:00 p.m. - Team gathers in the hall as introductions begin and players are called out. I'm all ways first and you never know what nicknames Darris has for us this week. 7:05 p.m. - The game starts. 9:00 p.m. - Game is over and we make sure to do the most important thing, go see the Kids. With out them and the other fans we never get to do what we love week in and week out. 9:45 p.m. - Up to the Captains Club for some post-game beers and to talk with Family, Fans, and Cougars. Lots more Autographs to sign and questions from people….but what other sport is so great that fans can always see the players after the game. 11:00 p.m. - Follow JB…….he always knows what's going on and you can always bet it is 110% fun |
