Game Day


Welcome to the Game Day section of the PLPA web site. Game Day is a segment that features players and how they prepare for games including what they do during the day of a game as a chronology.

This segment will feature rookie goaltender Gord "Gee" Nash of the New York Saints.

Gord Nash's Game Day


8:30 a.m.
- Wake up and shower. .

8:45 a.m
- Have breakfast with my Mom and Dad, (Mom always makes me scrambled eggs and toast)

9:15 a.m.
- Pack some clothes for an overnight stay and get my equipment ready (always make sure that the same underclothes are in my bag).

9:45 a.m - 10:00 a.m.
- Wait patiently for coach Hinkson to pick me up then depart for Pearson International Airport.

10:45 a.m.
- Check my equipment bag to the airline and MAKE SURE I CLEAR CUSTOMS, but always keep my stick with me at all times during travel.

11:30 a.m
- Fly to New York (if its a home game) and listen to my walkman and think about the game.

1:30 p.m.
- Arrive at LaGuaria airport, get my bag and get a ride to the hotel.

2:00 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.
- Chill out in my room and watch the tube.

2:45 p.m.
- Either go to the hotel eatery or order in for the same pre-game meal, which is either pasta or grilled chicken and salad.

3:30-4:30 p.m.
- Have a nap.

4:30-5:00 p.m.
- Take a shower to wake up and get dressed for the game.

5:00 p.m.
- take the hotel shuttle to the Collesium with the other "fly-in" guys (Frye, Benedict and coach Hinkson).

5:30-6:00 p.m.
- Go on the floor in shorts and a T-shirt for a light warm-up so I can lossen up and throw the ball around with teammates.

6:00-7:15 p.m.
- get dressed (always in the same spot), go out on the floor for a stretch and alternate warm up shots with Chris Levis.

7:15-7:30 p.m.
- Go somewhere and get mentally ready for the game for 5-10 mins, then join the team for pre-game talk by the coaches and game assignments.

7:30-10:00 p.m.
- Play game (hopefully a win) listen to coaches post-game talk, get undressed, shower and get dressed.

10:45 p.m.
- Go to after game social and chill with fans and teammates.
